Rick--ND4Z was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. in 1949. He attended Meyers High School where he obtained his first ham ticket WN3DYO in 9th grade and went on to continue his education in Electronics at Ryder Tech Institute in Allentown, Pa. and Penn State Extension in Hazelton, Pa.

He than became employed by Digital Equipment Corporation in Maynard, MA. as a Computer Engineer. He later moved up the ladder to the position of World Customer Support engineer and later Networking Engineering Specialist.

Rick is married to his lovely wife Phyllis, N4HVB, who has her General ticket in 1983. Rick and Phyllis have five children, two sons, Rick Jr. (Ex. KA4BHC) and Duane, three daughters and so far sixteen grandchildren, and one Great Grand Child.

He currently resides in 3 places, chasing nice weather. Spring and fall in Lake Murray near Gilbert, S.C.
Winter in Kathleen, Florida with Acre Antenna Farm and Summer in The Pocono Mountains near Wilkes Barre, Pa.

Rick holds an Extra Class since 1980 and passed the 20 WPM send and receive code test in Savannah, Ga.
He enjoys DXing, CW, PSK31,QRP, and designing and building antenna and towers.
