Since the strong hurricane IRMA is expected to make land near Miami and probably up straight up the middle
of Florida, which is home to most of our membership and net control operators. Fred W4FHC and I have been hammering out a plan to keep all our net secessions maned and hopefully the net will continue to operate as usual 5 hours each day 7 days a week. Sunday, perhaps one our busy days, is manned by 1 Texas NCS and 4 Florida based NCS ops
from 9 am to 1 PM. The likelihood of the 4 NCS ops to make their secessions is very unlikely.  Therefore, Fred has a back up
plan in case replacements are needed. I will be monitoring all day Sunday if possible. If you cannot make your net and a replacement is not there please contact me at 803.449.4200 and I will attempt to cover your secession. I personally would like to wish all our net controllers, Members, and family's a safe journey through these troubling times.
As stated in our preamble and net rules that we do not usually handle emergency traffic, but will in the event of emergency.
If something urgent needs to be passed, please break the net by stating "emergency traffic with your call sign and location.
Then state the nature of your emergency. Our goal on SOUTHCARS is to help any of our members and guests in any way we possible. I will try and monitor 7.251 all 5 hours of our nets and will continue to monitor the frequency as much as possible after closing the last net.  As Brother Joe K5JVT would say "God Bless America, we need all the help we can get".
You will be in our thoughts and prayers and again hopefully all of us will get through the best we can,
Best 73, Rick ND4Z Net Manager

And the "Brotherhood of SOUTHCARS"

We have recently alluded to the excellent performance and dedication provided by our Net Control Stations in our recent update of South-Cars’ history. I want to take this opportunity to personally give recognition to this fine group of men and women who take the time out of their daily personal lives, dedicating their service to this net on a weekly basis. For without their untiring support, we would not be able to enjoy this great net of ours.
In a most humble effort to give personal recognition to these outstanding stewards of South-Cars, I am establishing the “HALL OF HONOR” here in SCARS BREAKING NEWS. Each month, a current Net Control Station will be entered into the “HALL OF HONOR.”

“HALL OF HONOR”
In special recognition of their dedication, tenacity, and loyalty to South-Cars, we take great pride in placing the Net Control Station listed below, in the “HALL OF HONOR” for the specified month/year.
